National Policy on Marine Environment Marine Environment Protection and Pollution Prevention are High Priority Accession and Implementation of IMO Convention Strengthening the Enforcement and Monitoring Programs

Ballast water Management in Thailand Discharge of dirty ballast is prohibited by law Marine Department is the Competent Authority Standard, Criteria and Guideline are not in placed Dirty ballast is defined as ballast water contaminated by oil or noxious substances

Direction of National BWM To protect marine environment and resources To develop marine transportation To cooperate among stakeholders on technical data and expertise in order to develop National BWM

National BWM the way forward Define all stakeholder Review National Laws and Regulations Define scope of work –Cooperation –Survey for baseline data –Risk assessment –Standard Criteria and Guideline –Public Participation –Enforcement and Monitoring
