How do you keep in contact with your friends and family? List all of the different types of technology. Which ways are best for which type of communication Facebook- Notifications and events of what other friends are doing. Twitter – Limited amount of characters on a post. Hashtags also show what is being talked about  Blogging- A way of showing things by talking to a larger audience  SMS- A text message which is only a couple of hundred characters long.  MMS- A way of sending videos and photos with a small message.

Task: Look at the following scenarios and think about what the method of internet communication would be best for each. Parents are on holiday in Australia a want to keep in contact with their son in the UK. as they can write long messages to each other and they can read them when ever they are awake. A group of friends are arranging a party for another friend? Create an event on Facebook to invite as many as you can. A young person with a speech impairment wants to keep in contact with friends. Use an instant messaging services so they do not have to speak and they can just type down what they want to say. Members of an art group what to share pictures/ information. Use a picture sharing site so that the whole group can view it. A young women travelling the world wants to write to tell people about her experiences. She could create a blog so anyone can see it who knows her. A computer novice want to set up an online computer class. They could put up online videos on YouTube for people to follow.

What would you do in the following situations? You have been chatting with another boy/ girl and you want to meet up. You are on a social networking site and see a rude picture. You see pictures of someone that you do not get on with a social networking site. There is an option of you to write something underneath the picture You notice that one of your friends has not protected there website giving anyone access to see what’s in their profile Your friend uses IM and webcam to talk to other friends. There is one person she chats to who never turns on his webcam, making the excuse that it does not work.
