Harriet Tubman A well known hero

This is Harriet she is well known as a great heroine who saved many slaves

Harriet lived here

Harriet lived in her house until she was 6, then she was sold to rich people to work as a slave in the southern states. 

Harriet escaped when she was 30 years old.

This was called the Underground Railroad. Harriet went through here when she was escaping with slaves to free states.

Rich people in the southern states bought slaves to work on their large farms, called plantations

This is how people treated slaves in the 1500s. Many tried to escape, but many had to die

Harriet saved more than 300 people

At age of 40 Harriet worked as a nurse in the civil war

After the war more than 750 slaves where free from slavery

Harriet got out of her nurse job at age 47, she did not feel well

In March 10,1913 Harriet died of pneumonia

Many people are sad because of Harriet’s death   
