HCC STEM Update: BCAT Division Computer Science A.S. degree 146% increase in program enrollment 2009/2010 (45) to 2013/2014 (111) Designed to transfer to many of our four year institutions including Towson and UMBC Information Assurance and Cybersecurity A.A.S. degree 58% increase in program enrollment 2009/2010 (125) to 2013/2014 (198) Designed for immediate entry into cyber careers Students may earn industry recognized certifications (A+, Net +, Security +, CCNA) Recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency

HCC STEM Update: BCAT Division Computer Aided Design and Drafting – A.A.S. degree Enrollment has remained consistent over the past 5 years averaging approximately 170 students/year Students may earn a certificate or a degree Many students are employed in many regional firms Engineering Technology – A.A.S. degree 26% increase in enrollment 67 in 2009/2012 to 85 in 2013/2014 Students may earn industry recognized LabView Certification Many students are employed in regional manufacturing firms Computer Information Systems – A.A.S. degree Enrollment has remained consistent over past 5 years averaging approximately 1600 students/year Many students employed by regional firms and governmental organizations in entry level computing and computer programming positions.

HCC STEM Updates, STEM Division STEM Majors From , increased from 438 to 615: 40% increase Largest increases: Engineering (175 to 234: 34% increase), Biology (126 to 213, 69% increase), and Chemistry (48 to 71, 48% increase) STEM Degrees From , increased from 28 to 67: 139% increase) Total degrees awarded from : 256 STEM Scholars Summer STEP Up Program total enrollment:75 students 73% of the students have graduated, transferred, or are successfully persisting in STEM discipline STEM Outreach HCPS; STEM Teaching Academy; Community Outreach

HCC STEM Update, Continuing Ed Engineering Technician, Entry Level Continuing Education Certificate Includes courses in engineering technology, CAD, electricity, electric control systems, electronics, Lean thinking (Quality Assurance), print reading. 14 months to complete, 173 total hours NEW!! 4 students enrolled this year Electrical Apprenticeship Four-year program Earns a journeyperson license from Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation 362 students enrolled
