Ion source and RFQ 4 Production of the new H- source is progressing, to be installed soon in the 3 MeV test stand Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ): Last segment (#2) successfully brazed Assembly of complete RFQ week of 16.7 RF measurements week of 23.7

Financial situation  Total 2012 budget (CET): 25.9 MCHF  Paid at : 5.5 MCHF  Paid + Committed at : 19.9 MCHF  High level of committments: HP-RF (4.9M), PIMS (1.3M), CV (1.5M), magnets (1M), EL (0.6M), DTL (0.6M) + others. Comittments should be moved to 2013 for items not to be delivered in 2012.

The Linac4 Safety File(s) / ? Linac4 Safety File (EDMS ) June 2008, 91 pages All safety aspects of project, more emphases on civil engineering and machine equipment Approval for tendering of building and execution phase the project phases New Linac4 Safety Folder In preparation by Anne Funken All safety aspects of project, more emphasis on operation. Update of existing Safety File, document following recent CERN safety documentation standard (EDMS , ). Approval for operation above 3 MeV energy (2014) Linac4 Decommissioning Report In preparation (deadline end 2012) Calculation of activation at end of life Estimate of material quantities for disposal Estimate of the costs (for financial reports)

Linac4 Safety Folder 17  The referential in matters of safety for Linac4 is the Safety File which dates back to 2008,  The update of this document is in progress to integrate the changes which occurred and detail subjects which were not yet defined:  Interlocked areas and EIS  Dumps  Ion source changes  At the same time, the contents of the document is reorganized according to the new “Quality Procedure for Safety Documentation Management”,  The safety folder is composed of 4 main safety files (separate documents) :  Descriptive part  Demonstrative part (Risk Control Measures)  Operational part  REM part (Records, Experience, Monitoring)

Linac4 Safety structure The Project Leader is responsible for Safety in the Project (he can be assisted by a PSO). - WorkPackages are responsible for Safety within their WP (and follow the standard safety line Group –- Department assisted by DSO). - The Project provides the global view and the time perspective: Coordinates safety issues at the interfaces between WPs (transfer of information, coactivity, etc.) Verifies that Safety issues are correctly considered within the individual WPs. Directs safety issues in the sense of a minimisation of risks for all the different phases of the project. From SAPOCO 4.8: Project Leaders are responsible for Safety in their project. They must ensure that all Safety requirements have been taken into account from the design stage and subsequently at all stages of their project’s development through to its dismantling and final disposal.
