Lesson Goal: Continue a unit on “Traditions” by writing for “real world” purposes. Outcomes: Be able to... 1.Write a “real world” letter for the purpose of expressing gratitude. 2.Demonstrate writing that is clear, concise, and compelling. 3.Use the prescribed steps in writing: pre-write, rough draft, finished copy.

Starter #1 Today you will write your letter of gratitude rough draft. Your goal is to finish writing it AND editing your own work by the end of this class period. If you don’t finish it in class, then you must finish it at home. But those who finish in class today will receive extra points. Write your letter double-spaced on notebook paper.
