Articles of Confederation Word Wall Words

Confederation A loose alliance or connection. The States had a confederation government after the Revolution.

Republic To elect representatives to speak on your behalf in Gov. The United States is both a Republic and a Democracy.

Article A portion or part of a document. The main ideas of the first constitution was broken down into Articles.

Territory A piece of land that has not become apart of the country or is not fully developed. The Northwest Territory was the first new land to be added to the country.

States Rights vs. Federal Rights A debate between which government should have more power. VS. In the Articles of Confederation, the states rights meant they had more power.

Legislative The part of government that make the laws. The Congress is the Legislative branch of government.

Judicial The part of government that interprets the law to see if it fair. The Supreme Court is the Judicial branch of government.

Executive The branch of government that enforces the law. The President and his cabinet are considered the executive branch of the government.
