4. Legislative Branch The legislative branch makes the laws and decides how to spend tax money. In national/federal government it is called Congress. It is made up of two houses called Senate and House of Representatives. In state government it is called Senate and House of Representatives. It is made up of two houses called Senate and House of Representatives. In local government it can be called the city council or county commission.

5. Executive Branch The executive branch sees that the laws are followed and obeyed. In national/federal government the president is head of this branch. In state government the governor is head of this branch. In local government the mayor is head of this branch.

6. Judicial Branch The judicial branch explains and interprets the Constitution. All courts are part of the judicial branch. The Supreme Court is the highest court in the country.
