Entrepreneurial Competences for School Leadership Teams

What is EC4 SLT? An Erasmus+ project with partners from UK, Fi, Sl, Ro, Nl Aims: – improve school leadership by developing entrepreneurship. – take entrepreneurial competences from the business world and adapt them to a school leadership context – develop training modules to equip school leadership teams to accelerate the pace of school improvement and lead with greater school autonomy Methodology – work with schools using the professional enquiry method to develop the training resources – use real schools and real issues facing schools and aim to develop solutions to current issues – develop a set of training resources to be used in different countries using real situations

Objectives of the workshop Adopt the professional enquiry methodology Gain an understanding of entrepreneurial competences in four areas – Strategic Thinking & Visioning – Team Building, Personnel Management & Development – Communication & Negotiation Skills – Financial resources mobilization & Optimization Relate the entrepreneurial competences to the school context Share real issues relating to your own schools Identify an area of work to be undertaken in your own school

Module Objectives Professional Enquiry Module: – To understand the nature of professional enquiry – To Identify the school leadership issue you would like to address – To create an enquiry cycle for your own school – Prepare a plan for the cycle Module 1: Strategic Thinking & Visioning – To understand the concept of entrepreneurship – To understand the importance of having a vision of where you want to be – To identify the drivers behind the need for a vision – To evaluate the schools’ current position compared to other schools Module 2: Team Building, Personnel Management & Development – To analyse different organisational models and explore their potential effectiveness – To audit existing school structures and their effectiveness in addressing the needs of the school – To consider existing teams and potential improvement – To evaluate how a schools organisation can impact on improvement

Module Objectives Module 3: Communication & Negotiation Skills – To understand how to express a vision to the different stakeholders – To be able to develop a strategy for communication – To explore techniques for managing resistance to change and team building Module 4: Financial Resources Mobilization & Optimization – To understand the importance of maximising resources – To consider creative approaches to using resources – To explore resource options for the schools
