4 Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Understanding Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Provides underpinning knowledge to plan a business but not the competence to set up and run a business Provides the competence to set up and run a business or social enterprise Four weeks’ work experience in a business consultancy role within a host organisation Experience different aspects of the business Agree two tasks/projects to set, monitor and review objectives Use decision making and problem solving skills Structure – 60 credits 30 Mandatory and 30 Optional Structure – 120 credits 85 Mandatory and 35 Optional Option unit – Working as an intrapreneur Level 3 in Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

5 Level 2 BTEC Certificate and Diploma in Understanding Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Prepares and develops entrepreneurial skills to take forward to Level 3 Focuses on self development Develops knowledge and understanding to prepare a business plan Ensures interaction with and learning from experienced business professionals Diploma only – Enterprise in the Workplace – minimum 2 weeks’ work experience – two projects to develop problem solving skills Structures Certificate – 35 credits – 7 mandatory units Diploma – 60 credits – 11 mandatory units

7 Level 2 - What is studied? Entrepreneurial mindset what does it take to be a successful entrepreneur? Vision turning ideas into a product or service Market research finding out if there is a potential market and interpreting the results Finance gaining the essential knowledge and skills to develop a robust financial model to meet the aims of the business Change monitoring changes and adapting business plans for a successful business Business Plan delivering a convincing and professional presentation

8 Level 2 – Personal Skills Leadership and teamwork practical opportunities to work in a team and develop qualities to motivate and inspire others Creative thinking and innovation developing creativity techniques Personal finances planning for a secure future

9 Level 3 – Understanding The innovative entrepreneur using new ideas, having a clear vision, meeting the needs of customers Financial planning and implementation exploring sources of funding and advice, and preparing business budgets and accounts Planning and Pitching developing a professionally presented business plan

10 Level 3 – Starting up! Launching the vision examining values and ethics, developing a supply chain, bringing the product or service to the market, using project management techniques Operating the business using practical day to day and time management skills and networking skills Monitoring performance responding to unforeseen changes Planning future strategies assessing potential for growth and expansion Managing people knowing how to employ people and the management role

11 Level 3 – Personal Skills Teamwork working with others to ensure the vision and values of the business are understood and shared Leadership understanding skills used to lead a team, the impact on the success of teamwork and the overall success of the business
