Presentation transcript:

1.To begin click: File, New, then select Design 2.Draw a circle, then use the dimension tool to set it’s size to 84 diameter or 42 radius. 3. Next draw two more circles, as seen above. 4. Now using the line tool, join the 3 circles together as seen below.

5. This part can be quite tricky, to make this a more complex shape we have to use the ‘curve’ tool, to bend each line in turn. 6. Once complete all three lines should be curved as seen below. However the circles still need removing. Use the divide tool to cut off the inner sections of the circles by selecting them. 7. Once completed the circle will become filled with a colour. Change the view into 3D and you are ready to move on.

8. Use the extrusion tool to create a solid. When the box appears enter a distance of 20mm. 9. Click OK. 10. Use the ‘select faces’ tool to select the top face of the solid. 11. Now use the ‘round edges’ tool to curve the top of your design. When the box appears enter a radius of 6mm.

12. While the top face is still selected, click Workplane, then new Workplane, when the box appears call this ‘jog’. 13. Now create a new sketch on that workplane, click ‘Workplane’, then ‘New Sketch’ 14. Draw a circle for your jog dial on the right hand side of the design. Once drawn use extrude profile to a depth of 3mm.

15. Now for a new bit, select the top of the extrusion using ‘select faces’. 16. Now click ‘Feature’ in the top menus, then ‘Modify Solids’ and click on ‘Deform Face’ 17. When the box appears, type in 7mm into the height. 18. Click OK.

19. While the top face is still selected, use the round edges tool to smooth off your jog dial, type in a radius of 1.5mm. 20. Click OK. You have now completed the jog dial.

21. As you need a new drawing with different extrusions or details, you need to start a different sketch on the same workplane. Click ‘Workplane’ then ‘New Sketch’ this time, call it ‘Buttons’ 22. In the bottom left of your design, you need to begin generating buttons. Draw a small circle on your design in the bottom left.

23. Inside the ‘Edit’ menu, select ‘Duplicate. 24. When the box appears, in the ‘X-Direction’ change the number to 3. In the ‘Y-Direction’ change the number to The spacing must also be set to 10mm in both sides. 26. Now use the extrusion tool to a distance of 2mm on the circles to make the buttons. 27. While the extrusions are highlighted use the round edges tool to smooth the edges by 1mm.

28. Now lets make a display screen. Again As you need a new drawing with different extrusions or details, you need to start a different sketch on the same workplane. Click ‘Workplane’ then ‘New Sketch’ this time, call it ‘Screen’ 29. Now draw a rectangle for your screen on your design.

30. Again using the curve tool, select the sides of the rectangle and apply a curve to each side. 31. It may be important to dimension the height of the rectangle first, as this constrains it to prevent the curves changing it’s depth. 32. Use the dimension tool to dimension the curves too, and make sure both numbers are of equal value.

33. Now using the extrusion tool again, when the box appears this time select, ‘Subtract Material’ and ‘Below Workplane’. This will make the screen cut into your design. 34. Set the distance to 2mm and this time, set a taper angle of 40 degrees. (Watch the projection as you do this.) It allows us to put and angle on cuts into an object. 35. Use the arrow keys to spin your design! Well done. 36. If you have finished, rotate the design until you can see the base. Could you make any details on this???
