Q: Why are these symbols so successful? A: Awareness and consistency

Understand the Mission Statement Zonta International seeks to:  improve the legal, political, economic, health, educational and professional status of women through service and advocacy;  work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions;  promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;  be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, implement service programs, and provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations and the world.

Why Awareness Matters… Spend less time explaining who we are and why sponsors should help or why new members should join Build confidence in members by demonstrating focus on the mission Improve retention for all members through shared community recognition

PR Secrets Research your media outlets…call them and ask “who should receive our releases?” Keep your list up to date----assignments change all the time Give them a head start week warning, media alert/reminder a few days before Specifically invite them to attend as your guest or ask them to assign someone Send and upload photos…they never have enough Finish the story…Send a follow up release

PR Secrets Blasts---BCC rule Even Better---send individually Subject Line is your “lead”--- it should say everything Use action verbs---make it clear---make it compelling— make it timely Example: Glass Slipper Ball “Annual Zonta Fundraiser Held at the Hyatt” Or “Chefs and Guests Give Thanks and Have a Ball”

Press Release should be in the —not attached

PR Secrets Beyond the release… Blast to members so they can forward Include sister organizations and sponsors Post in community social areas Host a “media” or “community table” at your event

PR Secrets Beyond the release…our own PSA! Contact local TV stations and ask for contact Send 30 second spot (WMV file) to contact Wait there’s more… Use special events by setting up a lap top Use during orientation meetings Use during community events

Wrap Up…It’s about synergy Spend less time explaining who we are and why sponsors should help or why new members should join Build confidence in members by demonstrating focus on the mission Improve retention for all members through shared community recognition
