Location of the Home The home will be located in Desoto County, Florida This county is home to the largest solar power tower in America starting in 2009 The house will face the west because the sun is less intense when it is going down, and it is hot in Florida

Power Tower Electricity in the home will be supplied by a solar power tower

How Solar Power Towers work… Large reflectors reflect light into a tower, which heats water into steam This steam turns turbines and creates electricity

Active Solar Heating Solar panels grab light from the sun and use it as energy to create heat for our home

Energy Saving Windows The house will be equipped with windows that help keep air conditioning and heating in the home

Biogas Digester Placed in the ground and allow decomposition of animal waste, dead plants, human waste, and other degradable household items

Recycled Countertops Our home has recycled metal countertops Also, all the metal in our house is from junkyards across the country

L.E.E.D Our home reduces water usage, by collecting rain water on the roof which drains into boilers to clean them, then large tanks which we can use for storage Reuse of existing materials- Our home’s metals are from old cars and scrap metal

L.E.E.D All rooms are equipped with light energy saving motion sensors that detect when a person is and inst in the room, and turns the lights on and off automatically

Landscaping Our roof is flat which allows us to grow plants on it

Pond We will also have a pond near the house home to fish, which we can eat occasionally

Lawn The front lawn will be made up of small pebbles instead of grass to reduce lawn mower pollution

Trees Also, our climate allows us to grow Palm Trees around the home which will help with taking co2 out of the air and putting oxygen in it

Siding Choice We are selecting insulated siding to cover the house which helps keep heat and cool air in the house

Color Scheme The house will primarily have white and light colored walls and siding, this color wont absorb heat as much as darker colors
