HOW I SURVIVED MINF6620 AND LEARNED TO LOVE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT Fall 2015 Edition

Course Objectives To have the student develop and demonstrate understanding of the principal conceptual and managerial issues of information technology and resource management. To have the student become a more discriminating consumer of the services of information systems specialists (e.g. vendors, consultants, in-house specialists) and discern the differences in these services. To have the student be able to manage the development, deployment, and use of corporate information technology and resources with increased confidence and effectiveness. To have the student demonstrate the ability to analyze and evaluate existing information needs assessments and make appropriate recommendations. To have the student demonstrate understanding of competitive use of IT among diverse industries.

Course Materials All study materials will be available on the internet including … as it turns out … links provided to materials from other sites. Key materials provided are  Our main texts Business Analysis: Best Practices for Success and Business Processes and Information Technology (no cost PDF e-books)  Remote access to a cloud VM including Microsoft Dynamics & related resources, a $25 license fee  Installation software for any required products (no cost to students)

Hardware & Software  Course syllabus has details  A reliable Windows 7, Windows 8 computer is easiest but a Mac or Linux box will do  Software is available free though a remote access license ($25) for Microsoft Dynamics is required
