Synopsis This subject explores project management’s theories, techniques, methodologies and relevant tools. It looks at key ideas and issues about initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling stages of managing a project. It reviews the latest issues on leadership, teamwork, project strategy and implementation processes. It involves rigorous self-study, implementation and continuous evaluation of performance through assignments, submissions, class preparation and participation

Aims/Objectives The objectives or the courses are: 1.To introduce the advance theories and practices of project management to students 2.To provide students with the latest concepts and methodologies of project management. 3.To give guidance to students to learn about a variety of widely used tools for managing project. 4.To teach students the major processes and techniques involved in managing project and how to use them effectively. 5.To make students learn and understand the importance aspects of project management and how to apply them in software development and maintenance processes.

Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, students should be able to: 1.Discuss about software or information systems project management. 2.Explain about the various concepts of software or information systems project management. 3.Implement the learned theory and concepts of project management when managing a project. 4.Describe the various available project management techniques/tools. 5.Apply the various project management skills and tools correctly in planning, cost estimation, scheduling, risk estimation, quality assurance testing, software debugging, and optimal personnel task assignments. 6.Give critical evaluations of existing project management techniques/tools and discuss issues related to software project. 7.Appreciate the importance of practicing project management in software and system development project.
