Susan Hennum District Chair, Membership Growth

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Defining Statement……

1 st. Step…. How do you start a membership campaign? Appoint a Membership Chairman

Who Should Be Your Membership Chair?

Motivate and inspire members Enlist club members to serve on their committee Lead by example Create fun and excitement around recruiting Have great attendance Be a great communicator Be positive and open to new ideas Skillful delegator

Responsibilities of the Chairman Welcome prospective members of all diversities. Attend board meetings and report on activities. Hold monthly committee meetings. Maintain consistent communication with members through: , telephone, Skype, club website, newsletter, social networking (i.e Facebook, Twitter, Youtube) Work closely with club secretary to order pins for perfect attendance, membership awards, etc.

Create and update new membership packets including volunteer interest form. Responsibilities of The Committee…… Set growth goals at the beginning of each year. Create an ongoing plan for recruitment of new members and retention 25%

Create and update the club membership roster. Recognize and reward members often. Establish a regular schedule for new member orientation and induction. KIWANIS KOLLEGE

How Do We Sell Kiwanis To Others? If People Ask You About Kiwanis Your Chances increase that they will join! Take the opportunity to bring attention to our Cause and Yourself!

Share Your Personal Story! I love Kiwanis because it gives me the opportunity to serve those less fortunate. I feel like I really make a difference when I help collect shoes for the Shoes for Orphan Souls

SHOW YOUR KIWANIS PRIDE!!! Get people in your Neighborhood Talking!

Have Your Kiwanis Business Card Ready! This entitles you to one free dinner… White Rock Kiwanis Club Meets Tuesday at 6:30 pm on Thursday At Chubby’s Northwest Hwy & Jupiter Rd. We Save Lives! Front Back

Use the Community Analysis Who? Where? What? How? Why?

How Do We Turn Speakers into Members??? Speaker’s Gift from District Store Thank you card with a donation to the Eliminate Project in the speaker’s name ALWAYS……. HAND THEM AN APPLICATION AND INVITE THEM TO RETURN!

Plan Your Club’s Success No one plans to fail... They just fail to plan. Planning for your club’s success will increase membership and retention.

Goal Setting Specific Measurable Action oriented Realistic Time bound

Smart Goal Example: We will Increase the number of members 10% by September 30, 2013 We will Increase the number of members 25% by September 30, 2013

What are my Membership Options? Traditional Members? Those who can attend your weekly meetings. Does your club charge for meals with the dues?

–Members who are always there for your service projects but are unable to attend traditional weekly club meetings. –Pay for meals when they attend –No requirements for attendance to meetings, suggestion is one time per month –If your club charges for meals they only pay for membership dues – example $120/year Project Members

Project Club Meeting Schedule an additional Club meeting in the evening to accommodate those with a schedule that does not allow them to attend. Great for SLP Faculty Advisors Folks that do not work in your city but live there. Cost of meals not included in dues

Project Partnership Club 2 Clubs Come Together to form a once a month meeting usually held in the evening Example – North Dallas Project Partnership Club KWB = KIWANIANS WITHOUT BORDERS!

Retention Members will stay in a program when they are engaged and committed However, they leave when factors discourage continued involvement Nurturing relationships is worth your time– the payoff is–they become loyal members
