YOU MUST DECIDE DOMINANT HAND

I AM RIGHT HANDED AND ALSO my right hand is my dominant signing hand.

BUT… Sometimes that is not always the case. Some people are right handed but sign with their left hand That’s okay, but you must be consistent.

OR PARTS OF A SIGN PARAMETERS OF A SIGN

PRODUCTION OF SIGNS… …how can we explain??? There are 4 parts to every sign; Hand shape Palm orientation Placement or location Movement There can be a fifth attribute: Non-manual marker (NMM)

IN YOUR JOURNALS… Your journals must be for this class exclusively. Include your vocab. list and fingerspelling handout What are the 4 parts of a sign and why would we need to know the 4 parts?

YOUR JOURNEY JOURNAL You can organize it how you wish But do include a table of contents You will be using this later in the year to prepare for a presentation on your ASL Journey of Learning

HOMEWORK Teach someone how to sign the Manual Alphabet and the vocab “Survival Signs” correctly. In your journal write an entry on how well it went, what you found to be most difficult about teaching that person.
