NATURE OF WORK Create visual concepts by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas Combine art and technology to develop graphics Overall layout and production design for advertisements Help make an organization recognizable by selecting color, logo,particular idea used in advertising and promotions

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Usually need a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. Candidates for graphic design positions should demonstrate their creativity and originality through a professional portfolio that features their best designs.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY Basic qualifications of a good graphic designer include creativity, communications skills, and problem solving skills. Graphic design entails more than just your ability in Photoshop and art. While a good eye for color, form and detail is important to have, graphic design is a lot more than it seems English language-Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

JOB OUTLOOK AND PROSPECTS Employment of graphic designers is projected to grow 7 percent from 2012 to 2022, slower than the average for all occupations. Graphic designers are expected to face strong competition for available positions.

POTENTIAL EARNINGS NOW AND IN FUTURE Entry level :$26,110 MEDIAN SALARIES:$44,150 TOP 10%:$77,490 Salaries are primarily dependent upon years of experience. In 2012, about 24 percent of graphic designers were self-employed.
