Second career The second career I chose to look at was Computer Teacher. I think it’s cool that people went to college to learn about computers so they could teach others how to work and know computers.

Job Description Computer science teachers are responsible for instructing computer science to students at both high school and college levels. They guide and assist students through the entire learning process.

Job Description (cont.)

Salary & benefits The yearly pay for high school teachers is about $55,360. Some benefits are: Life insurance Medical, dental, and vision care Flexible spending accounts

Required training They would need a bachelor's degree in Computer Science specifically and a specific amount of time spent in teacher education courses.

Advantages disadvantages Can be an incredibly effective teacher
Provide more engaging activities for their students Some students may not always comprehend the material Some students may not want to learn what is being taught

Number usually hired at a company
There is an estimation of a 6 percent growth rate for high school teachers through 2022.

Employment outlook There will be more jobs awaiting people with computer science degrees. Graphic Design jobs will be growing until 2024, like they suggest. Computer Teacher jobs will also be growing up until 2022, which is another suggestion.

conclusion At first I thought, “oh, this is pointless, I don’t even want my future job to be a computer job.” Now I’m rethinking all the things I want to do in life. I like the idea of being a Graphic Designer, because they use creativity and I can be pretty creative. I like the idea that they get to create things for people. Me, personally, I don’t think I could deal with students because of how ignorant they are.
