Trees are our friends

The main parts of a tree

The roots keep the tree from falling over

The roots store food for the tree

Roots take water and nutrients for the tree to grow

The trunk has a bark which can be rough or smooth

The bark protects trees from insects

A trunk has different layers on top of each other

On the branches we find leaves

Leaves make food and give off oxygen

Trees are important in our lives

Trees provide shade

Trees give us fruit

Trees produce oxygen and reduce pollution

They provide homes to animals and insects

They cool the air

We make wood from trees

We make paper and carton

We make furniture and wooden houses

We have to take care of trees

Trees are wonderful
