2. 2 WORK! WORK! WORK! A tree has many parts. Each part has a job to do.

3. 3 ROOTS Roots draw water and nutrients from the ground to help the tree grow.

4. 4 Outer Bark Outer bark is like your skin. It protects the tree from insects, birds, animals, and weather.

5. 5 Inner Bark The inner bark brings the food that is produced in the leaves to the rest of the tree.

6. 6 Cambium Cambium is made of cells that produce new layers of wood each year. These layers are called rings.

7. 7 Happy Birthday Count my rings and you can tell my age.

8. 8 The Seed Seeds can be found in cones, nuts, or fruits.

9. 9 Seeds fall in the autumn and are covered by leaves during the winter. Then they sprout again in the spring.

10. 10 Leaves Trees make their own food in the leaves.

11. 11 Trees help us breathe.
