How to get back to the heart of worship

Worship: Is more than music Is all about Jesus Is a lifestyle--a 24 hour a day, seven day a week experience.

Worship critic or participant, which are you?

I. Stay Focused On God.

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. Isaiah 6:1-4 (ESV)

But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the LORD his God and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. But Azariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the LORD who were men of valor, and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests,

the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the LORD God." Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the LORD, by the altar of incense.

And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the LORD had struck him. And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and being a leper lived in a separate house, for he was excluded from the house of the LORD.

And Jotham his son was over the king’s household, governing the people of the land. 2 Chronicles 26:16–21 (ESV)

His Majesty, Holiness and Glory!

II. By being Cleansed By Grace.

And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said:

“Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:5-7 (ESV)

You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. Matthew 12:34-35

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 (ESV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (ESV)

Abraham (Gen. 18:27), Jacob (32:10), Job (Job 40:1–5), David (2 Sam. 7:18), Paul (1 Tim. 1:15), and Peter (Luke 5:8–11).

And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 (ESV)

III. Get Prepared To GO!

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8(ESV)

Right worship leads to right living, evangelism and acts of compassion.

Conclusion We need to stick to the heart of worship: by staying focused on God by being cleansed by his grace by getting prepared to go into the world and do his work.

That's the lifestyle of worship.

285 “Wherever He Leads I’ll Go” Take up thy cross and follow Me," I heard my Master say; "I gave My life to ransom thee, Surrender your all today." Wherever He leads I'll go, I'll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I'll go.

“Wherever He Leads I’ll Go” He drew me closer to His side, I sought His will to know, And in that will I now abide, Wherever He leads I'll go. Wherever He leads I'll go, I'll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I'll go.

“Wherever He Leads I’ll Go” It may be thro' the shadows dim, Or o'er the stormy sea, I take my cross and follow Him, Wherever He leadeth me. Wherever He leads I'll go, I'll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I'll go.

“Wherever He Leads I’ll Go” My heart, my life, my all I bring To Christ who loves me so; he is my Master, Lord, and King, Wherever He leads I'll go. Wherever He leads I'll go, I'll follow my Christ who loves me so, Wherever He leads I'll go.

Benediction
