Purpose of the Forum Gain your feedback on the a new design for the PHDSC Web site, including: –The Home Page –Committee Pages –The “To Join” Page Test some features of the new site –Look and feel –How easy it is to navigate through the site –How easy members, prospective members, and nonmembers can find relevant information

Background of the Web site Redesign The Lewin Group, Inc and Social & Scientific Systems (SSS) are under contract with NCHS to assist with the content and management of the third-generation of the PHDSC Web site Activities under the contract include: –Redesigning the Home, Committee, and To Join Pages –Develop a Privacy and Policy Statement for the site –Updating content on the site –Developing new content for the site (e.g., ECIC Tutorial) –Implement strategies to better market the site, making it more visible

Goals of the Web site Redesign Make the content located on the site more visible to users, easier to find Organize content by topic area (e.g., Privacy and Security) rather than function Ensure content is current and relevant to members and nonmembers

Process Lewin and SSS have obtained feedback from members of the PHDSC through the WRC listserv and a series of conference calls Lewin and SSS will be testing the new design during a Usability Study that will take place in the next few months Feedback from today’s Forum and the Usability Study will be used to make final enhancements to the design and content

What We Have Accomplished To Date Developed a new design for the Home Page and reorganized the site based on feedback from the Listserv and the Committee conference calls Revised the “To Join” Page Revised the Committee Pages

What is in Process? Developing new content for the site Updating old content on the site Some pages you view this afternoon may say “Under Construction” or may not have the latest content

How to Participate at the Forum Each folder is marked either Group 1 or Group 2 From 4:45 pm to 5:15 pm, Group 1 will provide feedback on the redesign in Room XXX; Group 2 is free to visit the Member exhibits From 5:15 pm to 5:45 pm, Group 2 will provide feedback on the redesign in Room XXX; Group 1 is free to visit the Member exhibits Thank you in advance for your assistance!!!
