Presentation transcript:

Windows 1.Put up black curtains or put black paper over the windows when an air raid is on. This is called making a blackout. If you do not put up the paper or curtains it would be like a sign saying here’s London. 2.Put criss-crosses of tape on the windows to stop the glass from scattering everywhere if they break. 3.Use bricks to make a wall so when the bombs dropped it would stop most of the blast from the bomb hitting the windows.

Fire 1.Keep a bucket of water, a bucket of sand or a blanket in the house just in case there is a fire. Use them to put over small fires to put them out. 2.Listen to the fireguard or their messengers when a fire is near.

1.If you hear the warning siren (this is what it sounds like) go straight to the nearest shelter. At home use the Anderson or Morrison shelter. If you are outside you should go to any tunnel (in London you can use the Underground stations) or the nearest community shelter. 2.You should always keep food and a blanket by the back door to pick up and take to the shelter with you. 3.The most important thing to take with you is the gas mask!! 4.Don’t come out until the all clear siren is heard. Sirens

Gas 1.You must keep the gas mask with you at all times. 2.Check if the gas mask works every day by putting it on, checking it fits and that you can breathe through it. 3.Listen for the gas rattle to warn you that gas is near.

Shelters 1.Build an Andersen shelter in your garden or a Morrison shelter in your house. A kit to build a Morrison shelter is free for people that earn less than £250 a year.

ARP You must do what you are told by the ARP like “COVER THAT WINDOW” or “PUT THAT LIGHT OUT”

Blackout 1.Be careful during the blackout. Remember that there are no street lights and car lights will be dim. 2.Always walk facing the traffic. 3.Men should leave their shirt tails hanging out so that they can be seen in car lights. 4.Be careful not to fall, trip or bump into things.
