Today we will capitalize Holidays names and historical periods

What we already know We already know how to capitalize many things when we are writing. We just worked on capitalizing place names and special events Ex. Disneyland Ex. Student of the Trimester

Concept Capitalize- make the first letter of the important place or event a BIG (capital) letter. Holidays- a special day that is celebrated like Christmans, Martin Luther King day. Historical Periods – Time span of events from the past, like the Ice Age.

Examples Ex. Halloween is a scary holiday. The Great Depression was a sad time period. Ex.  The snow falls on christmas day. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked hard on creating equal rights during the civil rights period.

Why it’s important…. Knowing when to use capitalized letters correctly will help us become better writers.
