Genres Genre is a word that comes from French which means “Kind” or “Sort” which gives literature its categories. Examples are Romance, Horror, Detective, and Mystery

Romance A typical romance has two main characters that focus on the relationship and the problems they have. It also must have an satisfying ending. For example the notebook is one of the most watched romantic movies ever. The movie is about two lover that cant be together at first but in the end they end up living together for the rest of there life's.

Horror Horror is a literature genre which is written to frighten readers who read the book. Most of the setting is in one place not much moving around. Here is a video to show you an example.

Detective Is an investigator or detective story in which he or she is trying to solve a mystery. All detective movie or stories are Mysteries but Mysteries are not always Detective.

Examples The Nancy Drew books and the Hardy Boys are prime examples of detective books. They both have main character which look for clues or hints that lead them to the answer of a crime or mystery. Many detective stories reveal the crime at the beginning and find the culprit at the end.
