National Household Travel Survey 2010 Introduction NHTS provides very valuable information for Transport Malta and other entities involved in transport and land-use planning very clear picture of the travel patterns of the Maltese population allows for the better planning of transport infrastructure, both in terms of road and public transport services. since two previous such surveys were carried out (1989 & 1998), the NHTS2010 gives us a third point to plot on our graph of changing traffic trends.

Marketing the survey during the lead up to Survey Day was a crucial part of the project. Sample The sample selection was taken from the local council electoral register and proportioned to a statistically representative number of households at a district level. Feedback 6,666 households answered – exceeding target of 6,000 16,952 persons 41,771 trips covered by NHTS.
