Providing the best for our students 3 Focus Areas

Focus Areas #1 Ratio and Accountable Talk Fellows will encourage student engagement through increase in student talk with use of higher order questioning, wait time, and transferring the bulk of the mathematical work from fellow to student. 70% student talk 30% teacher talk

What is your accountable talk/math discourse focus this week?

Focus Area #2 Engaging Tutorial Environment Fellows will reference word walls, progress toward goals, objectives, big goals (including TCAP and college) to instruct, motivate and invest students during tutorial. Students will track their own progress. Please share ideas on how we can work on big goals (SMI, TCAP and College) and better use of word walls.

Focus Area #3 Grade Level Support Fellows will post and instruct based on a student-friendly and measurable grade level objectives aligned with classroom needs. 13 minutes grade level support. Making sure to follow what is in the Grade Level lesson provided by coordinator. Collaborating with teachers and coordinator for support.

Remind students that strategies learned in tutorial can be used in class, in homework, in SMI, in TCAP and in any other activity or test related to math. Keep a high focus around college and career readiness and remind them often about things they are doing that will help them reach those long term goals. Take time after show what you know to talk about college and career as well as TCAP. Virtual tour of university Write a letter to university asking for college items Decorate their folder (or divider) with college names, cut outs Name your groups a university and use logo to identify their workspaces/folders Other ideas? Any questions?
