A DIGITAL AGENDA FOR BOLOGNA November 21, 2011 European Agenda Going Local Bologna (Emilia Romagna Region) host the first of three ‘stages’ organized in Italy by the European Commission to promote the ‘European Digital Agenda’, the EC policy focused: - to the development of the Information and Knowledge Society at local level - to the deployment of the “principles” in metropolitan contexts, through the stimulation of actions and commitments of local actors.

A DIGITAL AGENDA FOR BOLOGNA Internet as a Right The Municipality of Bologna considers Internet as an essential infrastructure / public sphere to be guaranteed to citizens, enterprises, city users and city visitors/guests. In 1995 the Iperbole civic network ( ) offered each citizen free access to Internet and account. Since 2006 the civic network started becoming mobile and ubiquous through Iperbole Wireless, continuously expanding. In 2011 and beyond the aim is to guarantee the Internet neutrality and equal access to everybody, without barriers from the technological point of view and without economic, social and cultural disadvantages/divides.

A DIGITAL AGENDA FOR BOLOGNA Enterprises and technological innovation The Municipality commits itself in creating fertile ground for the start-up of enterprises and in supporting the existing productive tissue Increase of online services for enterprises Give value and promote of tenders start-up oriented Mapping and of co-working spaces also for non profit bodies Sinergy with local stakeholders: Cineteca, Aster, Unibo, Spinner... Meetings with enterpreneurial associations for the diffusion of social culture for enterprises Training in management and in digital creativity / innovation Support to local credit
