Presentation transcript:

Aim of presentation Brief history of the charity How the CPBF has helped already What are we trying to do? How supporting the CPBF will benefit you. What does the future hold? Summary

History of the CPBF Launched at the National Care Awards in November 2009 and raised £107,000! Official website launch in December 2009 Awarded its first grant in October 2009 Poster Campaign in March 2010 reaching out to over 16,000 care homes Founding Members dinner in March 2010 Currently receiving around 5 applications for financial support every week. Regional Boards have grown to over 30 members.

How can WE help? The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund is the registered charity for the care sector. We are here to support current, former and retired care professionals, by providing assistance to relieve financial hardship or sickness. We also provide advise and guidance on the availability of state support and links with debt counsellors. If you have worked directly in the Care Industry (either now or in the past) you may be eligible for help.

Case Study 1 Alyson – South Wales The Charity recently received an application for support from a 30 year old former care professional, Alyson, from South Wales. Alyson is the proud mother of three children (all aged under 9) and was tragically diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in September Desperate to be able to enjoy simple pleasures such as going to the shops un-aided and to be able to collect her eldest child from school, Alyson asked the charity for a grant to fund the purchase of a mobility scooter. Of course the CPBF were only too happy to help and now Alyson has her independence back.

Case Study 2 The Middleton’s – November 2009 'We were about to be evicted from our home until the CPBF helped us' - Mrs. Middleton Following illness, Mrs Middleton found herself unable to work and due to further deterioration in her health, her husband was forced to give up work to care for her full time. This unfortunately led to the couple getting into severe financial difficulties after their income support and housing benefit was cut through no fault of their own. Having been given an eviction notice from their property, the Fund was delighted to be able to step in and clear the arrears on their rent. This enabled the family to stay in their house and for Mr Middleton to return to work with arrangements for care of Mrs Middleton being made.

What are we trying to do? The aims of the CPBF are simple: To make care workers aware of THEIR charity and to let them know that we are here to help. To continually raise as much money as possible to be able to sustain the support that we offer. To work with benevolent funds in other industries and debt advice agencies to ensure that all forms of help are made available to everyone that comes to us seeking support.

What are the benefits of supporting the CPBF? We hope that by supporting our charity: Your staff will remain focused and motivated. It will be positive for your residents. It will make your home more desirable as both a place to work and service provider.

How can YOU help? Spread the word to your friends, colleagues and residents that you come in to contact with on a daily basis. Organising fundraising events within your care home to raise money for the CPBF and to and make people aware of its existence. Simply leaving a one off donation. Signing up to one of our many fundraising initiatives – Payroll Giving, Pennies From Heaven, Leave a Legacy, Membership Scheme. Applying to be on one of our regional boards to impart your fundraising wisdom.

Summary What we do and who we help. How supporting us can benefit you. How you can help the CPBF.
