Accountability Progress Reporting California’s integrated accountability system Reports both the state Academic Performance Index (API) and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Program Improvement (PI)

Accountability Progress Reporting State Board of Education (SBE) approved the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s recommendation to NOT calculate the following API reports for U.S. Department of Education granted California's testing waiver for certain statutory and regulatory requirements of Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, which means there are no changes in AYP reports Program Improvement status is carried forward for

Academic Performance Index The API Report is required by the California's Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA) of 1999 A school's API is calculated from their STAR program results and other factors A school’s API ranges from 200 to 1000

Academic Performance Index 2014 Growth API is not available for any school or district Next API Base and Growth Results  Base to Growth comparisons will be reported in 2015–16  Anticipated that the 2015 Base API Report will be produced in spring 2016  Beginning in 2014 and beyond, statewide and similar schools ranks will no longer be produced

Adequate Yearly Progress A statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress

Adequate Yearly Progress No 2014 AYP Reports One-year waiver in making AYP determinations for school districts who participated in the Smarter Balanced Field Test The Smarter Balanced Field Test did not generate any student results for accountability CST science results for grades five & eight are also not incorporated in the 2014 AYP reports. Science results have never been used for AYP.

Program Improvement Formal designation based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Schools and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) receiving Title I funds Did not make AYP criteria for numerically significant subgroups

Program Improvement Title I funded schools and LEAs in 2013–14 year will receive a 2014–15 PI report. Schools in PI for 2013–14 is in PI for 2014–15 Must continue to implement the PI requirements associated with their 2014–15 PI placement year PI status for  Cambrian School District & Sartorette Elementary– Year 3  Farnham Elementary – Year 2  Price Middle – Year 1

Program Improvement Requirements Year 1 District: Provide assistance and to revise SPSA/LCAP Continue implementation LEA Plan Inform parents of PI Status School: Revise SPSA/LCAP based on students’ outcomes Effectively monitor student progress Year 2 District: Provide assistance to revise and implement SPSA/LCAP Continue implementation of LEA Plan Notify parents of PI status Provide ongoing support to sites School: Revise and implement SPSA/LCAP Maintain system to continuously monitor student and school progress Offer Supplementary Educational Services (SES) for qualifying students Year 3 District: Continue Year 2 requirements Refine and monitor LEA Plan Ensure SPSAs are in alignment with refined LEA Plan Provide ongoing support to sites Notify parents of PI status School: Continue Year 2 requirements Refine and implement SPSA Collaborate with LEA to improve student achievement Refine system to monitor student and school progress

Next Steps Inform parents of status of Accountability Progress Reporting Align current local assessments and curriculum to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Disaggregate and analyze data, including newly historical and newly aligned CCSS local assessments data Provide ongoing high quality professional learning opportunities for implementation of CCSS Target and effectively monitor student progress on a regular basis based on student outcomes Adjust instruction, interventions, and support as needed
