3 Title I is a K-12, federally-funded program that provides money for additional academic support and learning opportunities to students at schools with high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged students. The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet Common Core State Standards (CCSS). What is Title I?

6 The School Site Council (SSC) provides parents with an opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school. The SSC develops, monitors, and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to implement programs and services that support students. Parent Involvement

8 School analyze CST and CELDT results and review AYP and API status. Next year, we will also review SBAC results Schools use the data to align curriculum to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Schools adjust instructional practices based on the findings of the assessment data School Achievement Data

9 Parents are informed about the school’s curriculum in English/Language Arts and math Parents also receive information about the assessments used to measure student progress in these academic areas Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)

10 Allocated on a basis of the number of students eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools receive Title I funding if 40% or more students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District are ranked according to this percentage, and schools receive a certain amount of money per student. 1% of a school’s total Title I budget must be set aside for parent involvement activities. A minimum of 10% of a school in Program Involvement must set aside for professional development Funds must SUPPLEMENT, not SUPPLANT services already provided by the school district. Title I Funds

11 Every Title I school, in collaboration with parents, must prepare a site level parent involvement policy. The Parent Involvement Policy describes how the school will involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at their school, and it will do so in an organized, ongoing, and timely fashion. 12 Describes the responsibilities of the school, the parent, and the student, and how these responsibilities will result in improved student achievement Is developed in collaboration with parents, teachers, other school staff, and the principal The Home/School Compact
