Title I is a K-12, federally-funded program that provides money for additional academic support and learning opportunities to students at schools with high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged students. The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet Common Core State Standards (CCSS). What is Title I?

10. Allocated on a basis of the number of students eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools receive Title I funding if 40% or more students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Schools in the Elk Grove Unified School District are ranked according to this percentage, and schools receive a certain amount of money per student. 1% of a school’s total Title I budget must be set aside for parent involvement activities.
