2 The week before school began teachers met for a day and a half to collaborate, both across grade levels and within their own district wide grade level teams to plan for further implementation of California Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

4 Common Core State Standards & 21 st Century Learning Goal The Common Core State Standards provide:  a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn  teachers and parents the know-how to help students.  standards designed to be robust and relevant to the real world  the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. (California Department of Education, 2014)
