Local Directgov Programme Research shows that citizens want: Government services that are easier to understand Convenient, time-saving interaction with Government Awareness of the different services offered Secure and reliable environment to transact A choice of channels to find the information they want

Local Directgov Programme Vision statement: “Improve accessibility to public services via the internet by bringing together Directgov and LA online services into a single offering.”

Local Directgov Programme Key benefits: Increase traffic/ cross sell of central and local government services = efficiency savings though offering cost and time savings Opportunity to extend the reach of online public services Increased citizen awareness of government activity/policy Through better information and tools, enable citizens to engage with different tiers of government Help simplify government for citizens

Summary of programme: 6 Key services: The Local Directgov programme will enable citizens to directly access key local authority services through the Directgov website Partnership: Directgov, in partnership with Local Authorities, is the main access point for all central and local government information Increase Take Up: Local Directgov is designed to help increase citizen take-up of online public services

Local Directgov Programme WS1: Connecting Directgov to Local Authority websites: Developing technology to connect seamlessly from Directgov to Local Authority websites to provide citizens with quick and easy access to all public services Develop and implement a national standard for information sharing between Local Authorities

Local Directgov Programme WS2: Neighbourhood and Parish Councils: Adding Parish and Neighbourhood tools into the ENCORE community e-publish CMS (open source) - Enable local communities to debate and raise local issues - Community voice and online presence - Presence on Directgov = visibility

Local Directgov Programme WS3: Home and Community Franchise Team: Co-ordinating and developing appropriate articles across all Directgov topic areas, to support the work to connect Directgov to Local Authority websites Leading policy discussion to incorporate community, parish and neighbourhoods into Directgov Co-ordinating stakeholder, marketing and communications strategies across the programme
