GOAL/PURPOSE TO UNDERSTAND THE ROLE GRAVITY PLAYS ON THE PLANETS, STARS AND THE SOLAR SYSTEM TO UNDERSTAND THE ROLE GRAVITY PLAYS ON THE PLANETS, STARS AND THE SOLAR SYSTEM

FORCE AND NEWTON KEY – SIR ISAAC NEWTON WAS AN ENGLISH SCIENTIST 1666 WHO WATCHED AN APPLE FALL FROM A TREE. KEY – SIR ISAAC NEWTON WAS AN ENGLISH SCIENTIST 1666 WHO WATCHED AN APPLE FALL FROM A TREE. KEY- NEWTON REALIZED THE FORCE ACTING BETWEEN EARTH AND THE APPLE IS THE SAME FORCE ACTING BETWEEN THE EARTH AND THE MOON THAT KEEPS THE MOON IN ORBIT. KEY- NEWTON REALIZED THE FORCE ACTING BETWEEN EARTH AND THE APPLE IS THE SAME FORCE ACTING BETWEEN THE EARTH AND THE MOON THAT KEEPS THE MOON IN ORBIT. FORCE- IS A PUSH OR A PULL FORCE- IS A PUSH OR A PULL

GRAVITY KEY- NEWTON HYPOTHESIZED THAT THE FORCE THAT PULLS THE APPLE DOWN TO THE GROUND ALSO PULLS THE MOON TOWARD THE EARTH. KEY- NEWTON HYPOTHESIZED THAT THE FORCE THAT PULLS THE APPLE DOWN TO THE GROUND ALSO PULLS THE MOON TOWARD THE EARTH. GRAVITY- IS THE FORCE THAT ATTRACTS ALL OBJECTS TOWARD EACH OTHER GRAVITY- IS THE FORCE THAT ATTRACTS ALL OBJECTS TOWARD EACH OTHER KEY- NEWTON WAS THE FIRST TO REALIZE THAT GRAVITY OCCURS EVERYWHERE. KEY- NEWTON WAS THE FIRST TO REALIZE THAT GRAVITY OCCURS EVERYWHERE. LAW OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION- STATES THAT EVERY OBJECT IN THE UNIVERSE ATTRACTS EVERY OTHER OBJECT IN THE UNIVERSE LAW OF UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION- STATES THAT EVERY OBJECT IN THE UNIVERSE ATTRACTS EVERY OTHER OBJECT IN THE UNIVERSE

GRAVITY KEY- THE FORCE OF GRAVITY IS MEASURED IN NEWTON'S KEY- THE FORCE OF GRAVITY IS MEASURED IN NEWTON'S KEY- THE STRENGTH OF GRAVITY BETWEEN TWO OBJECTS DEPENDS ON TWO FACTORS: THE MASSES OF THE OBJECTS AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM. Mass vs distance

GRAVITY, MASS AND WEIGHT KEY- GRAVITY DEPENDS ON THE MASSES OF AN OBJECT KEY- GRAVITY DEPENDS ON THE MASSES OF AN OBJECT MASS- IS THE AMOUNT OF MATTER IN AN OBJECT. MASS- IS THE AMOUNT OF MATTER IN AN OBJECT. KEY- THE MORE MASS AN OBJECT HAS THE GREATER THE GRAVITATIONAL FORCE. KEY- THE MORE MASS AN OBJECT HAS THE GREATER THE GRAVITATIONAL FORCE. EX- EARTH VS A BOOK VS YOU EX- EARTH VS A BOOK VS YOU

WEIGHT- IS THE FORCE OF GRAVITY ON AN OBJECT WEIGHT- IS THE FORCE OF GRAVITY ON AN OBJECT KEY- MASS WHICH DOES NOT CHANGE WEIGHT CAN CHANGE FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION KEY- MASS WHICH DOES NOT CHANGE WEIGHT CAN CHANGE FROM LOCATION TO LOCATION EX- MOON WEIGHT IS 1/6 THAT OF YOUR EARTH WEIGHT EX- MOON WEIGHT IS 1/6 THAT OF YOUR EARTH WEIGHT
