 Part of the Pulaski County Special School District  468 students from Prekindergarten -5 th grade  Primarily African American and Caucasian  Approximately 15% Hispanic  79% Free or Reduced Lunch  Extremely Transient Population

 Students come from south of Little Rock  Communities include Wrightsville, Hensley, portions of East End and Mabelvale, among other small, rural areas  Bates adequately reflects both the ethnic makeup of the area as well as the socioeconomic makeup of the area it is zoned for

 Largest community that Bates serves  1,509 people  73.6% African American, 25.8% White  33.4% live at or below the poverty line  Largest industry is the Department of Corrections Retrieved from

 193,524 people  55.1% white, 40.4% black, 2.4% Hispanic, with other populations represented  Only 14.3% living at or below the poverty line – significantly lower than Wrightsville and the surrounding areas Retrieved from
