9 Education 66% of Collier County Public School (CCPS) students qualify for Free & Reduced Lunch Early education is critical yet quality childcare is one of the highest budget items per family Subsidies are available for some but only cover a portion of the costs of approximately $217 per week 50% of students live in households where English is not spoken and present huge challenges in reading and writing scores Majority of students in CCPS are Hispanic (48%)

10 Housing Median sales price in Collier County was $282,000 compared to $93,900 in FL and $137,000 in the U.S. There are 143,000 households in Collier County. 42% of households pay more than 30% of their income for housing. 21% pay more than 50%. Rental assistance is the number one need of Collier 211 callers. Annual rental rates are highest in Collier County

This is higher than the national average of 21% According to ALICE, a family of four needs $531 per month for food or $6,372 to feed their family Seniors and children are at highest risk of health problems due to lack of food Harry Chapin Food Bank delivers 3.2m pounds of food through 24 partner agencies in Collier County. 40% goes to children, 10% to seniors and 50% to families and individuals.

13 Women and Girls Teen births are an indicator of future poverty. Rates have declined to 39 per 1,000 but remain higher than the than Florida at 36 per 1,000. Single mothers without a high school degree is higher than the state at 13.6% vs. 13.2% but has significantly decreased in past five years. 14 Women and Girls Senior Women in Need Historically, women have been more likely to be poor than men, especially senior women. o In Collier County, the senior population is growing faster than the country. o There are more females than males over 65 and that is up by 25% more by age 85 and older. o Retirement income is limited to social security for many.

15 Human Trafficking Florida ranks 3 rd in the nation for the number of human trafficking cases Southwest Florida is sandwiched between two major cities reporting high human trafficking cases
