Organization issues Legal issue, liabilities must be carefully considered HK Section is registered as a society with Government since inauguration in 1971 We are considering to apply as a charity organization

Organization issues Bylaws is most important and should be regularly updated Disposal of income/surplus should be written down Large event organiser(s) profit/loss sharing should have be agreed in written Tax reserve is necessary

Organization issues With the legal status, Section bank account and Chapters sub-accounts can be set up Accounts should be with 4 signatories and checks should be signed by two out of four HQ centralise banking requirement can be waived

Organization issues Set up member advantage programs, VISA mailing order account, appointing travel agent, discount from book broker Discount insurance

R10 Reserve and HQ backup R10 has Reserve $80,000 to meet the unexpected spending due to lawsuit or others RAB, IEEE HQ will be providing support if there is no fault involved

Networking people Networking people is considered the main focus Executive Committee is the core of the volunteer family A big volunteer family is important and a treasure to all Chair is the overall leader

Technical activities To form Chapters to focus on specialize technical activities Section to auspice conferences and workshops Distinguish Lectures is most welcome function

Social Activities Allow more refreshment time to talk and chat Organize social activities to meet old folks and make new friends, e.g. BBQ, tea and dinner gathering..

Annual Members Night HK Section has started annual Members Night to present fellow certificates The function invites all Fellows and past ExCom members to join Local dignities are invited to promote the image

Linkage with members Section aim is to serve members and promote IEEE Regular Newsletter is very important Update web page with last minutes activities Have the web page publicize to general members of public

Relationship with sister institutes and industry Good relationship with other institutes is important to promote the image Members data base is already a good source in the industry connection

Two major difficulties Major difficulties is the lack of volunteer time Through motivating ExCom members and old folks, we can have lots of helping hands Succession plan is important, both for Section, Chapters and Student Branches

What is enjoying Well, you will fine the most enjoying is having make many professional friends and can have their support whenever you need

Bullets for the success Networking people is the main aim Strong Executive Committee and volunteer family Good core business and linkage with members Better relationship with sister societies and Industry Ensure a succession plan
