What is PBS? School-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a different way of handling discipline, PBS is… Proactive: Trying to prevent inappropriate behaviors by putting procedures in place and if needed changing the environment. Educative: Teaching the students what we expect of them while on our campus (Expectations). Teaching our students the rules and expectations for specific settings (Cafeteria, Hall, Bus, Etc.). Reinforcement Based: Giving students rewards for when they show the schools expectations and they follow the school rules. Negative consequences are still given for inappropriate behavior. We want the consequences to change the student’s behavior so the student does not display the same behavior again.

What is PBS? A collaborative, assessment-based process to developing effective interventions for problem behavior Emphasizes the use of proactive, educative, and reinforcement-based strategies to achieve meaningful and durable behavior and lifestyle outcomes Aim is to build functional, effective environments in which appropriate behavior is more effective than problem behavior

PBS Team Members Approx. 17 participants form the PBS team. Representative of all faculty on compus. The administrators serve on the team and is supportive. Team Members: Dr. Suther, Mrs. Suprenard, Mrs. Lowery, Ms. Myrick, Ms. Webley, Mrs. Palermo, Mrs. G. Kohmetscher, Mrs. Rainey, Mrs. Ralph, Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Malaska, Mrs. Kentfield, Mrs. Vaden, Mrs. Valis

School-Wide PBS Goal To reduce the number of inappropriate behaviors occurring across campus by educating students and staff and reinforcing appropriate behaviors. To provide all students with necessary tools that will assist them in becoming responsible citizens in society.
