What is Opportunity Youth?  Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a division of Clayton County Public Schools Student Services and funded by Atlanta Regional Workforce Board.  Presents an extraordinary opportunity to improve education, job and career options for Clayton County workers and job seekers through an integrated job driving public workforce system that links diverse talent to businesses. It supports the development of strong, vibrant economies where people want to live and work.  WIOA is a year round program that serves 75% out-of-school youth (OSY) ages and 25% in-school-youth (ISY) (secondary or post secondary) youth ages

How Can I Become Eligible to Participate in WORKFORCE? OSY 1. Not Attending high school for 9 to 12 weeks 2. Ages 16 to 24 One or more of these qualifies; Recipient of secondary education diploma Basic skills deficient/language Juvenile (court involved) Homeless, runaway, foster care Parenting or pregnant Disability Low Income ISY 1. Secondary/Post secondary 2. Ages 14 to Low Income One or more of these qualifies; Basic skills deficient/language Juvenile (legal system) Homeless, runaway, foster care Parenting or pregnant Disability Requires assistance for education/employment

Required Identification o STATE I.D. o Birth Certificates o Social security card o Selective Service (males)

OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM MODEL Clayton County Public Schools Workforce Investment Act will serve all eligible youth. Our model is based on the Brevard Florida Next Gen program design. Our OSY Service Map is formatted from the Workforce3One called webinar “Work Readiness is Critical” program flow.

WHY BREVARD NEXT GEN? Our Program Model is based on the Brevard Florida Next Gen Program Similarities: Collaborate with the public school system, (Title 1) to:  Engage with dropouts  Access to youth and young adults entering High School Equivalency programs (GED)  *Graduating seniors  Community based organizations –CCPS provide program services to the following: Juvenile Court System (new initiative) Homeless, pregnant and parenting teens Foster Care Our program OSY Service Map is adopted from the Workforce3One “Work Readiness is Critical”, program flow webinar. *WIOA offers 14 elements available for all youth participants: The numbers are included in the OSY Service Map outline.

WIOA 14 ELEMENTS at a Glance 1. Tutoring, study skills training, instruction, and evidence-based drop out prevention and recovery strategies 2. Alternative secondary school services, or dropout recovery services. 3. Paid and unpaid (work experiences) with academic and occupational education components. 4. Occupation skill training that should be aligned with in-demand/growth sectors or occupations. 5. Education offered concurrently with workforce preparing and occupational training. 6. Leadership development opportunity. 7. Supportive services 8. Adult mentoring during participation and 12 months afterward months of follow up services. 10. Comprehensive guidance and counseling to include drug and alcohol abuse counseling. 11. Financial Literacy education 12. Entrepreneurial skills training 13. Labor market and employment information and career readiness services 14. Preparation PSE/training

OSY SERVICE MAP A.OUTREACH AND RECRUITMENT  Clayton County Public School Recovery list- ABE/GED –Media (all, social and network) –Mail outs – Word of mouth through the school system administrator– Student/peer relationships BORIENTATION  Back to School coupled with immediate immersion in career planning  (1, 2, 5) Education offered concurrently with workforce preparation and occupational training C.ADMISSIONS REVIEW BOARD – APPLICATION AND ENROLLMENT  Academic and career coaching and advisement (10) Case Management starts here drug and alcohol, mental health referral  Determine eligibility and suitability (credits required, age and time available)  VOS inquiry and data entries D.CAREER EXPLORATION, ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING  Objective assessment (TABE, Career Cluster), (VOS system program)  SKILLS PROFILER -  (4) OCCUPATIONAL SKILL LEVEL - (aligned with in demand/growth sectors or occupations)  Individualized Service Plan Development (VOS system program)
