10 Minute Short PCMI 2013 Contact: 2 - Day Exams

Why take 2 days for an exam? What if your students learned from their assessments? Can be used with any type of exam Use of MP#3 “Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others”

2-Day Exams Student Reflection and Learning 1.Rewrite the problem, make sure you number the problem with the same number on the exam. 2. Solve the problem, if you can. 3. Write at least 4 sentences to describe what you now understand that you did not before. You MUST use math terminology in each of the 4 sentences. You also need to use one of the 3 words in the CME Analysis in one of your sentences.

2-Day Exams Student Reflection and Learning Steps 1, 2, 3 CME Analysis C: Confused – You did not (and maybe still do not) understand the question or how to solve/answer it. M: Misconception – You thought you knew how to solve it, but were mistaken. E: Error – You made a mistake.

5 2-Day Exam Example

2-Day Exams

Using the CME Analysis for reflection –If students had mostly “Confused” –If students had mostly “Misconceptions” –If students had mostly “Errors”
