Canada Canada is a country in North America, the second largest country in the world after Russia. On the South and the North-West it borders with the United States. In the North it is washed by the Arctic ocean, on the North-East Buffenoir Bay and Davis Strait, on the East by the Atlantic ocean, on the West by the Pacific ocean. To Canada is a large number of Islands, including Baffin island, Victoria, Ellesmere, Devon, Bank, Newfoundland and other The name comes from the language of the Iroquois kanata, meaning "village".

Currently, Canada is a Federal state, consisting of 10 provinces and 3 territories. Province with a predominantly French - speaking population of Quebec, the rest are mostly English-speaking province, also called "English Canada" in comparison with French-speaking Quebec. As one of the nine predominantly English-speaking provinces, new Brunswick is the only officially bilingual canadian province. The Yukon territory is officially bilingual (English and French), and the Northwest territories and the territory of Nunavut recognizes 11 and 4 official languages (among which there are also English and French).
