Project Timothy Lesson Four

SEX – Now that I have your attention any series for young men needs to address this most important topic – from a Christian perspective! God made Sex good. It is evil man that has perverted and destroyed the perfect gift of God. Physical union between a man and women symbolizes the spiritual union that is to be the ultimate expression of God’s love. We often get this the other way around. God has also given a prohibition to not have sex outside of marriage. Many see this as God’s way to keep us from the joy that sex brings. The reality is that God was trying to keep us from the immorality we see today in the world. Venereal disease, abortions, rape and molestations. We have to develop a Godly conscience that is based upon God’s WORD. God’s Word washed our minds and lifts us to righteousness. Many people today take God’s word and make it conform to the lifestyle they want to live rather than the other way around. Christian Men who are not married are not to be involved in a sexual relationship of any kind. It is that simple. Christian young men cannot be involved in watching porn of any kind. Garbage In = Garbage Out. Lets look at God’s Word and see what it has to say to us.

Psalm 119:9-16 English Standard Version (ESV) Beth 9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. 12 Blessed are you, O L ORD ; teach me your statutes! 13 With my lips I declare all the rules [a] of your mouth. 14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.a

What are you involved in that needs to stop in the area of sex? Do you have someone you can talk to about this? What will it take for you to live a pure Christian Life?

What are the steps outlined in Psalm 119 for keeping yourself pure:  Verse 9 - Keep God’s Word as the Sacred Roadmap for your life.  Verse 10 – Read and Apply God’s Word Daily.  Verse 11 – Let God’s Word enter right into your being.  Verse 12 – Be Humble and Submissive to God’s Leading in your life.  Verse 13 - Declare the Truth of God’s Word in your life and work.  Verse 14 – Rejoice in God’s Word and place its importance above all else.  Verse 15 – Learn and inwardly digest God’s Word and let it effect your life.  Verse 16 – Do the above each day and you will prosper in God’s eyes.

I know this is a sensitive subject but it is one that needs to be discussed and the principles of God’s Word needs to be applied. We all know that this is a real problem among Christian men. So why has it not worked for you before? God’s power is released to the degree that obedience is exercised. What am I saying? If you want God’s power you have to obey His word. Plain and simple. No other way around it. The power is there when you say no. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Pornography is idolatry. Plain and Simple. Sexual Sin will destroy you slowly at first and can even bring you and your testimony down. We see it all the time, Jimmy Swaggert, Ted Haggard..etc and etc.. Every year another well known minister takes a tumble down the sexual sin slide. It is much easier to slide down than it is to crawl up. I want to let you in on another secret young Christian men: Sin always promises to please and serve but in the end it always enslaves and destroys. No sin is secret and does more than just hurt you. Ask any addict what alcohol or drugs has done for them. In the end you lose everything, family, dignity, freedoms you end up in the pit of life looking up at all you could have been. I am telling you this to save you so much grief. Listen to God and His Word! Time to MAN UP!
