 Define the following terms: › Equator › Prime Meridian › Latitude › Longitude  I will be grading bell ringers after today, so make sure you have them all completed and in the first pocket of your class folder.

Agenda  Bell Ringer  Latitude and Longitude Practice  QUIZ!  Time Zones › BrainPOP › Notes › Practice › International Date Line Video (if time permits)

 Think about it!

 There are 24 different time zones in the world, one for each hour of the day!

 There are four time zones in the continental United States – Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern.

 As you travel east into a new time zone, the time increases by one hour.  If you travel west, the time decreases by one hour.  + 1  - 1

1.What time zone is Louisiana in? Central 2.If it is 1:00 PM in California, what time is it in Florida? 4:00 PM 3.If it is 10:00 AM in Texas, what time is it in California? 8:00 AM 4.If it is 12:00 AM (midnight) in the Eastern time zone, what time is it in the Mountain time zone? 10:00 PM

 The International Date Line is located around the 180° longitude line. If you cross the International Date Line, you cross into a new day!  World Clock World Clock
