Integrated Pest Management (IPM) By: Carolyn Sears pd. 9

So… What Is IPM? An effective, eco-friendly way to control the pest population with the least possible damage. Based on: –Life cycles –Interaction with the environment

Fantastic, but where can it be used? Agricultural and non-agricultural settings: –Household –Garden –Workplace

How?

Examples, Examples, Examples Beneficial insects: – Lady bugs – Praying Mantis – Mason Bee Bad insects: – Fruit worms – Mites – Horse flies – Fleas

Advantages Increased yield with less production Better eco-system Organic Produce Little skill, equipment, risk, and costs

Disadvantages Developmental labor What works Set traps Monitor Crops Background knowledge
