Strong Research Environments The Faculty’s internationally competitive research environments include several in the field of learning, such as: LinCS (Learning, Interaction and Mediated Communication in Contemporary Society). Receiver of so-called Linnaeus support from the Swedish Research Council since 2006.LinCS FUR (Prerequisites, Education and Outcomes)FUR Early Childhood Education Also nationally and internationally acknowledged is the Faculty’s school research, which deals with the organisation of schools and school systems, education planning, teaching, people’s development and learning. There is also a focus on the interaction between the individual and his/her environment, as well as on special and adult education. The Faculty also hosts one of the University of Gothenburg’s priority research areas – Learning – with the LETStudio.LETStudio FACULTY OF EDUCATION

The Faculty of Education was formed in Until then, it had been part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Most of the Faculty’s activities are concentrated to the Pedagogen complex in central Gothenburg. The Faculty moved to the present location from Mölndal (immediately south of Gothenburg) in Pedagogen was built on a historic site with remains from the 1600s. For example, part of the city’s old fortification Carolus Dux is visible for public view. Pedagogen’s building A was erected in 1855 and served as a hospital until Building C, originally a school building, stood finished in Building B is the area’s most recent addition, built in In 2011, the School of Sport Science opened at Skånegatan. The building gathers applied research and education related to sports, health and nutrition under one roof, and many of the Faculty’s students complete parts of their education there.
