Mouth The digestive system starts in the mouth. Teeth is hard, bonelike structures in the mouth.

Physical Digestion The delightful smell and taste of the food together with the chewing activity stimulate the production of saliva. Physical digestion begins in the mouth.

Chemical Digestion Reacts with chemical. Takes place in stomach, mouth and some other parts of digestive system.

small intestine complete all digestion and provide absorption of digested nutrients into the bloodstream.

Salivary glands Salivary glands are three pairs of glands in the mouth that secrete saliva.

The Esophagus It is 9 to 10 inches. It connects Mouth and Stomach.

Stomach Work on Protein, breaking it down into polypeptides. Hydrochloric acid is secreted into the stomach. Pepsin is a digestive enzyme secreted by the stomach. Chyme is food mixed with stomach chemicals, expelled by the stomach into the duodenum.

Liver Manufactures the vitamin. It distribute nutrients form food to the other organs.

Small Intestine It is 20ft long. It is divided into three parts: Duodenum, the Jejunum, and the ileum. Most digestion takes place in small intestine. Villi is a fingerlike projections that line the small intestine and other membranous surface.

Large Intestine It transports waste material through rectum and then anus. It has close end coming of it, it is called appendix.

Pancreas It stores bile and release it into stomach and small intestine. Pancreatic juice is the mixture of the digestive secretions produced by the pancreas. Peristalsis is a wavelike contractions of smooth muscles that move the contents of tubular organ along.

Gall Bladder Bile leaves the gall bladder and goes to the small intestine when it needs to. It is located under Liver.

Difficulties in the Digestive System Gall stones- stones develop in the gall bladder. –G–Get the gall stones removed. Appendicitis- Food finishes its journey through the digestive system in the small and large intestine. –T–Treatment – Appendix can be removed.
