Presentation transcript:

How to make a 4 year plan of study for Palmer HS in College-in-Colorado Log in to student’s account in College-in-Colorado at: Put in account name and password (red arrow) Account name is: CSSD Plus student # Example: cssd Password is: _ _ _ _ _ _ Birthdate with MMDDYY Example:

If this is the first time the student has gone into the account, a page will come up asking for some basic information. Fill out the questions that are mandatory to proceed. You should now be at a home page that looks like this: Click on: Your Portfolio (red arrow)

Now click on the blue ICAP

Now click on the blue Your Plan of Study

If you have worked on this before, the screen below will appear. To proceed, click on My Plan of Study #1 If you have not worked on it before, the slides below will appear. To proceed, click on Create Your Course Plan Then click Create a Plan of Study from Scratch Then click: continue (on right)

You should now be on a page that looks like this. This is from an un-named 10 th grader who has done some planning but is not finished with their plan. The column on the right shows the required number of credits for each subject area. When the student has placed the minimum number of English classes required, the color on the right column should show green indicating they have planned for enough English classes to meet graduation requirements. It is typical to have more math and science than is required because colleges expect four years of those subjects even though high school requirements are only three years. The extra credits become electives. The elective box does not add up correctly. You can be sure you have enough electives if all of the other subject boxes are green and your total credits in the bottom right corner has at least 46 credits in it. The columns have totals for each grade year at the bottom. Typically a student has classes a year. It is not possible to take more than 14 classes. If you see more than 14 planned for a year, classes need to be removed. Students only have 14 classes when they are taking performing arts, yearbook, or journalism. Next we will show how to add or delete classes.

Double click on any box you want to add or delete a class in. A list of classes will come up. Find the class you want to add and click on the blue add button to the left. It will be added to the list of selected classes. You can also delete a class by clicking on remove this class to the left of the class in the class list. I have added both English 5 and English 6 on the bottom slide so you can see where they show up. (Each class is one semester) You then have to click save and return to your plan of study There are two locations…. See arrows. Either works.

You can see how the classes are now added to the four year plan of study. At this point the classes added are saved if you log out. You can continue clicking boxes where you want to add or remove planned classes. You do not have to add classes in all the boxes each year except English. That would be more classes than you can take in one year. Remember to look at the total at the bottom of the columns and don’t go over classes per year. Tips for adding classes: Think about your career goals. Which classes will help you realize your goals or best prepare you for the next step after high school? This is a good time to explore interests further. For example, if you think you might like medicine, take human anatomy or AP biology.

Additional resources to help you select classes at Palmer High School What are my options and where can they take me? This document can be found under the counseling tab by clicking the Registration Resources tab and then Palmer Academic options. This explains the IB grade level classes, honor classes, and AP class options. Another thing to consider is the career pathways classes that can be taken at the Roy J. Wasson Academic Center. Students can take a bus from Palmer to the Wasson campus and back to attend their classes. They offer automotive classes, hospitality and tourism courses, agricultural classes, cyber security, paraprofessional educator classes and culinary classes. More information can be found at the D11 district website. Refer to our course catalog which can be found on our Palmer website by clicking the counseling tab and then you can click the course catalog tab. Terror TV made a video about the different electives that are available at Palmer. It can be found under the counseling tab Registration Resources.
