Kirkhill Librarians Action Plan

Librarian Aims for Session Target 2 of School Improvement Plan  Undertake training from local librarians to help us in our job.  Work with our Pupil and Parent Councils to raise funds ourselves in school.  Decide how our library will work, who will be able to use it and set up systems for these things to run smoothly all the time.  Communicate our work in an ongoing way to other pupils, parents and members of the community.  Continue to take responsibility for the running of your Librarian Meetings.  Lead storytelling sessions for P1 and P2 at breaks or lunchtimes  Invite authors and newspaper reporters to lead sessions with classes  Create pupil guidelines for the use of the library  Organise and lead book clubs for P3, P4 and P5 pupils  Organise a reading challenge

Librarian Action Plan In Term 1 we will decide on our Action Plan, make Librarian Badges and start running our meetings for example taking the minutes. Comments: Librarians are pleased with the ideas we had and the aims that we have written for this session In Term 2 we will organise a Library Action Day when we will have some training and organise the library. We will help at the Book Fair, organise a Library Duty Rota and systems to make the library run smoothly and organise a timetable so that classes can come and borrow books. Comments: Librarians are pleased with everything they achieved, it has been a very busy term.

Kirkhill Librarians Library Action Day

Dear Miss McEachern We thank you for coming to our library and are very grateful that you came on such short notice. Our library is, thanks to you, open for pupils to borrow books. We have all the books on the right shelves with the right stickers on the spines. The only problem is we are not trained properly! We hope you can come and train us further on how to run a library. We also need help setting out the non-fiction in the library and we need the help of an experienced librarian. We really need your help to teach us how to be a good librarian! Thank you for all your help, From the Kirkhill Librarians.

Dear Kirkhill Librarians Thank you so much for your lovely letter. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to Kirkhill to help you sort out your library – I only wish that I could have stayed longer! I am so glad that you have got all your fiction books arranged on the correct shelf with stickers on the spines – it sounds like you have made great progress so far. I would be delighted to come back to Kirkhill to help you sort out your non-fiction books and help train you further. I think you are fantastic librarians already with all your hard work and enthusiasm! Mrs Menzies and I will arrange a date and I look forward to coming back to Kirkhill to work with you all again. Meanwhile, have a great Christmas and I hope Santa is good to you and brings you lots of great books to read! Best wishes, Miss McEachern. School Librarian.
