Why go to the Expo? It’s where you get their Marathon T-shirt and goodie bag! It’s where you get to see new products and get free stuff. It’s also where you can get taped up. (Wear shorts or pants that you can roll up past your knees.)

Wristband and Emergency Info on Bib Instruct anyone helping runner to call the number on the wristband! Make them look at the number! Fill out MEDICAL and EMERGENCY information on the back of the bib in ink that doesn’t run or permanent marker. N ote: permanent marker may bleed through to the front of the bib.

What to wear to the starting line? Tell students to start looking for “throw away” clothes – Sweatshirts, raincoats, sweatpants etc. Wear to starting line, throw away once race starts

Avoid getting feet wet Get 2 cups of water. Wet head/face. Watch out for cups and banana/orange peels.

Bring sun block All skin types At least SPF of 15 or higher Remind guys that if they take shirt off because they are hot they will get burned and it may hurt rather than help

Wear Sunglasses/Visor Feels cooler and stops squinting Protects the eyes/face Cools the body

Run in the Shade when possible Don’t wait until you are miserable to be sensible!

The Marathon Course This downhill course includes 25 uphill jaunts! Mile 1-4 heads out Dodger Stadium and through downtown. Be careful during the Mile 5 and 8 hills. Avoid the mile 16 medical tent. Stay steady through the VA center (Mile 21) Mile 22+ SRLA Aide Station: Running Them In SRLA Finisher Check-in Area: Santa Monica High School

The First 9 Miles downhill 4-9 climbing begins! 5 & 8 are the toughest

Mile 16 We will have a snack table on the corner of Doheny and Burton Way. Look for Mr. & Mrs. Vazquez and Mrs. Cabral.

Before Mile 22 Look for Mr. Haile or Ms. Herrera and check in. They will have snacks. If it is past 1:12 pm, you’ll have to wait for Ms. Shum. You will not be able to finish without her.
